Salmon return to West Munday and Yorkson Creek

Volunteers and community residents are overjoyed to see the sight of beautiful salmon in their spawning colours swimming up our local creeks. In the case of West Munday Creek, it has been 20 years since salmon have been seen there! The reason for the return is the replacement of 4 blocked culverts through the Yorkson Watershed this year. A huge thanks to all those who worked to identify and replace these culverts!

New awareness signs were installed by our YWES volunteers just in time for spawning season. A red coho swims past a red bike discarded in West Munday Creek.
